Canadian Olympic Committee

The Canadian Olympic Committee - COC ((フランス語:Comité olympique canadien - COC)) is the private, non-profit organization representing Canadian athletes in the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the Pan American Games. It was created in 1904 and formally recognized by the IOC in 1907. The COC also represents the selection of Canadian cities in their bid for being the site for an Olympic or Pan American Games. The COC currently represents 464 athletes and is structured into three levels of governance:
* Executive Committee
* Board of Directors
* General membership
The Canadian Olympic Committee is based in Toronto, Ontario (corporate office) and at Canada Olympic House in Montreal. Tricia Smith is currently (as of November 9, 2015) the interim President, pending an election scheduled for later this month.
On May 29, 2009, the COC and Barbados Olympic Association (BOA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for co-operation between both bodies. Under the deal, President of the Canadian Olympic Committee remarked that "Signing this Memorandum of Understanding helps us work even more closely with our colleagues in Barbados to improve sport development for both Barbadian and Canadian athletes and coaches."
The deal covers a pledge of both national Olympic committees to develop stronger partnerships between sport federations of Canada and Barbados with athlete development an area of focus. This includes the free exchange of coaches, officials, trainers, judges, experts and scientists for participation in seminars, courses and counselling.
In December 2014, the COC partnered with Egale Canada and the international You Can Play foundation, announcing a program to combat homophobia in sport by addressing LGBT issues as part of its mandate.〔("Canadian Olympic Committee partners with leading LGBTQ organizations to promote equality in sport" ).
